Crackpot Endorsements

We all know about Barack Obama’s former pastor endorsing him. Obama has publicly repudiated his former pastor’s views and called them wrong.
But it seems that Barack Obama is not the only one with some crackpots endorsing him.
John McCain was endorsed by mega church pastor Rev. John Hagee. Here are just a few of the quotes from Hagee. McCain has not repudiated Hagee and actively sought his endorsement:
“God caused Hurricane Katrina to wipe out New Orleans because it had a gay pride parade the week before and was filled with sexual sin. From the same interview:
Hagee:” All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that….I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.”
Hagee also believes that we should provoke a war with Iran in order to hasten the second coming of Christ, that Harry Potter books are designed to introduce children to the occult and are work of the devil.
Crackpot endorsements for Hillary Clinton:
Clinton is endorsed by number one right wing crackpot Ann Coulter. Here are some quotes from Coulter, who says she is proud to call herself a “Hillary girl.” Hillary, when asked about Coulter’s endorsement, said she was happy to have any support and that ’strange bedfellows and all that.”
When talking about the widows whose husbands were killed in the attacks on Sept 11 Ann Coulter said:
“I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.”
Ann Counlter on soccer moms:
“Liberal soccer moms are precisely as likely to receive anthrax in the mail as to develop a capacity for linear thinking.”
Ann Coulter on the war in the Middle East:
“I think the government should be spying on all Arabs, engaging in torture as a televised spectator sport, dropping daisy cutters wantonly throughout the Middle East and sending liberals to Guantanamo.”
“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.”
Is Obama held to a different standard? He has publicly repudiated his former pastor’s views.
I think back to when I was a kid, going to Mass every week, with a pastor I strongly disagreed with. Was I responsible for his views?

Interesting point. No, I guess you aren’t responsible for the views of your pastor/priest. I think you’re responsible to make your own views clear so that your views and the views of your supporters can be compared side-by-side. That way, if you have a “crack-pot” supporter, it can easily be determined whether or not you share his/her beliefs.
Ok, fun question: Do YOU have any crack-pot supporters who have gotten behind you over the years?

Ugh, Ann Coulter…the anti christ.
If I were Hilary I would speak against her and make quite clear that her views do not agree with my own.
No, you would not be responsible for what your pastor said. I think people realize that Obama had nothing to do with what that reverend said.

Do I have any crackpot endorsements? Absolutely not. My supporters are the finest people, and I am proud to have them, all of them.
Seriously, I do not ask for or get many endorsements of any type. When I ran for Mayor in 2003, the vast majority of elected officials who took a stand endorsed my opponent.
With few exceptions, endorsements really do not matter. I always take my campaigns directly to the public.

Have you endorsed anyone person for President I saw a Picture of Senator Hillary Clinton on your Web-site?
Just wondering Mr. Mayor who do you Support for President? Are you A Delegate? I voted for Senator Clinton & I will proudly cast my vote for her if she wins the Democratic Nomination.
This election is not over till its over. If Obama wins then I will vote for him but we have 10 other States that vote & 6 million voters & we still have the Florida Fiasco to battle with.
If Florida & Michigan are not seated the Democrats will loose by default for not allowing the delegates to be seated!
Barack Obama Should either allow a re-vote for both states What is he worried about?

Here how about this I think the Republican Party owed Senator John McCain the nomination what do you think?
Remember Senator Bob Dole he won his Party’s Nomination in 1996 see what happened to him He lost the November Election to President Clinton.
Oh and by the way President Bill Clinton did not get nominated Until Late June what’s your Take? Do you think there will be a Dream Ticket?
JFK/LBJ. Ronald Reagan George H. W Bush I think it Should happen the only way to Unite the Democratic party at the end Clinton/Obama Ticket will be a great move!
Oh and there is no such thing as Pledged delegates but we must count the Michigan & Florida Delegates or face the Democrats loosing the election in November By Default to McCain if the Florida & Michigan Delegation is not seated @ the Convention!
